May 5, 2014 (MINNEAPOLIS) – In response to the proposed Minnesota Senate bonding bill released today, as well as the release of a revised House of Representatives bonding bill, both of which include $20 million in funding for the redesign of Nicollet Mall, City leaders released some statements.
March 18, 2014 (MINNEAPOLIS) – A new independent economic impact study of the Nicollet Mall project found the reconstruction is expected to create $105.5 million in additional spending in Minnesota and 860 full-time equivalent jobs. The study was conducted earlier this year by Donjek and Anton Economics.
Feb. 20, 2014 (MINNEAPOLIS) – After several months of collecting feedback, Minnesotans say they are in favor of a more open, green gathering space, a connection between the Mississippi River and Loring Park, a more vibrant business district and thriving retail scene on Nicollet Mall. To date, the City and the Downtown Improvement District received nearly 4,000 responses from online surveys and at public events.
Jan. 22, 2014 (MINNEAPOLIS) – On Feb. 19, the City of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Downtown Council and James Corner Field Operations, which is leading the Nicollet Mall redesign, will present the first round of design ideas for one of Minnesota’s premier main streets. The free event will take place in Pohlad Hall at the Central Library from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with opportunities for the public to share thoughts and hear from the design team. A design presentation will take place at 5:15 p.m.
Sept. 10, 2013 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Nicollet Mall, the pedestrian and transit corridor running through the heart of downtown Minneapolis is entering the first phase of its redesign project with a public event on September 17 at the Guthrie Theater.
